RCMP Constable William (Will) McNutt, 40, from Nova Scotia’s “H” Division, is facing seven charges of sexual assault. The allegations span from July 2019 to May 2024, and stem from incidents in Northport (Cumberland County), Enfield, and Shubenacadie.

Chronological Timeline of Alleged Incidents & Charges

July 2019 – Northport (Cumberland County)

Two counts of sexual assault alleged to have occurred in summer 2019.

Charges were laid in December 2024 following a 2024 investigation.

McNutt was arrested on November 29, 2024, and first appeared in Amherst Provincial Court on January 6, 2025. Final trial dates in Amherst are set for January 8 and 22, 2026.

December 31, 2022 – February 12, 2023 – Enfield

Three sexual assault charges, plus two related charges (uttering threats and overcoming resistance), stemming from an alleged victim known to McNutt.

Charges laid by the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) in July 2024.

These charges are scheduled for trial on October 27 and 30, 2025, in Shubenacadie Provincial Court.

January 2023 – Shubenacadie

SiRT received an allegation in March 2025 involving a woman known to McNutt.

McNutt was charged on July 2, 2025, and appeared in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on July 3, 2025.

May 30, 2024 – Shubenacadie

A fourth sexual assault charge related to another woman in Shubenacadie. Charges were laid on June 23, 2025.

RCMP Oversight & Internal Response

SiRT is responsible for investigating serious incidents, including sexual assault, involving RCMP officers in Nova Scotia.

McNutt was suspended without pay in January 2024, following the initial Enfield-related charges.

Assistant Commissioner Dennis Daley has described the allegations as “extremely alarming and distressing”, stating that the RCMP is fully co-operating with SiRT and an internal internal code-of-conduct review is underway.
